PROTECTOR 6026 - FORT KNOX

$9,294.00

You probably arrived at this page because you're trying to consolidate firearm storage and personal valuables into one safe rather than two. This Fort Knox Protector Home Safe is configured for exactly that. The Universal interior gives you four shelves for documents and boxes. The Cabinet Small Half upgrade adds drawers and jewelry compartments in the lower portion. The Door Organizer mounts up to four pistol holsters on the door interior. The body is upgraded to 3/8-inch with a 3/16-inch ArmaKnox AR500 ballistic layer added over the standard 3/16-inch outer steel. The Brilliant White high-gloss finish with gold detailing and Finial Pull Handle reads as designed furniture rather than utility hardware. Our Northern California clients often choose this configuration when one safe needs to handle both jobs and look intentional doing it.

Level 8 out of 10 Security

Protector's theft protection in this configuration comes from a 3/8-inch layered body, a 1/2-inch door edge, and active defense inside the door. The body is two layers: a 3/16-inch outer plate plus a 3/16-inch ArmaKnox AR500 ballistic upgrade that resists cutting, drilling, and ballistic strikes. The door is built as a 10-gauge jacket plus a 1/4-inch internal door plate with security plates fully covering the door face, and 11 locking bolts engage around the perimeter. Multiple relockers inside the door lock the bolts in place if the door is attacked, even if the lock itself fails. Given enough time and tools no safe is impossible to defeat, but layered construction forces tool changes, and tool changes cost time.

120 Minute Fire Protection

Fire protection on the Protector is rated at 1,700°F for 2 hours under UL72-style internal-temperature testing. The system uses Type-C fireboard with vermiculite to maintain structure under heat, welded fireboard anchors that hold the boards in place rather than glue that can melt, a thermal barrier between the outer wall and the fireboard that slows heat transfer, and dual perimeter door seals that block smoke and activate Palusol expansion at 212°F to seal against fire. The rating is established by monitoring nine internal sensors during a controlled fire test and recording the duration before the first sensor reaches 350°F. Real fires are not controlled, so the rating represents an envelope of expected performance rather than a survival promise. Where you place the safe matters as much as the rating: an interior wall away from kitchens and garages faces different conditions than a perimeter wall in a wildfire region.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about this product

  • AR500 changes the body from a single 3/16-inch wall to a layered 3/8-inch construction, forcing an attacker to switch tools mid-attempt rather than getting through with one. The cut, drill, and ballistic resistance of AR500 specifically targets the most common forced-entry methods. We see attempted breaches abandoned at the layered transition because tool changes burn time.
  • Interior walls work better than exterior walls because they reduce thermal exposure during a fire, and bedrooms or home offices work better than garages or basements for daily-access reasons. Anywhere too cold or humid will work the lock harder than necessary over years of use. A finished room near where you store matching items handles placement and accessibility together.
  • Protector uses 3/16-inch body steel where Defender and Maverick use 10-gauge, and the door edge is 1/2-inch versus 3/8-inch on the entry models. Protector also carries a 1,700°F 2-hour rating compared to 1,500-1,600°F at shorter durations on Maverick and Spartan. In our showroom we walk customers through the difference by hand because the weight tells the story.
