How Our Security Level System Works

Fire Protection

Ranges from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours, prioritizing independent ratings. We consider insulation type, door seals, expanding materials, and real-world testing results from certified laboratories.

Steel Construction

Assesses steel thickness for pry and drill resistance, measuring both body and door construction. We evaluate composite layers, hard plate protection, and overall structural integrity to determine penetration resistance.

Locking Mechanism

Evaluates the entire system including lock type, bolt quantity, size, and throw length. We analyze both electronic and mechanical components, redundancy systems, and anti-manipulation features.

Certifications

CA DOJ and UL ratings confirm resistance against burglary and fire. We verify all certifications through independent testing laboratories and consider multiple rating categories including tool attack, torch resistance, and explosion hazard protection.

Understanding Ratings: CA DOJ and UL Levels

Highest Certification

UL TL-15 & TL-30 Ratings

  1. UL TL-15 and TL-30 are tool-resistant ratings for high-security safes.
  2. TL-15 withstands attacks using power tools, cutting torches, and mechanical devices for 15 minutes.
  3. TL-30 extends protection to 30 minutes against even more aggressive attempts.
  4. These ratings are commonly used in commercial and high-value residential applications.
Standard Certification

UL RSC I & II Ratings

  1. Residential Security Container (RSC) rating by Underwriters Laboratories.
  2. RSC I is the standard certification for most quality home safes.
  3. RSC II is achieved by very few safe models.
  4. Both RSC I and RSC II are tested to resist attacks using common hand tools, picking tools, and mechanical or electrical devices for up to 5 minutes.
  5. RSC II offers enhanced protection against more sophisticated attempts.
Lowest Certification

CA DOJ Certification

  1. Certified by the California Department of Justice for meeting state requirements for safe firearm storage, unauthorized access prevention, and child safety. Required for legal firearm storage in California.

Bolting Down Your Safe: A Must For Security

Prevents Tipping

  1. A properly bolted safe prevents tipping or moving, protecting valuables and family members.
  2. Especially important for taller safes or safes on upper floors, where unanchored safes pose risks during earthquakes or break-ins.

Enhanced Security

  1. Bolting a safe to concrete or solid flooring makes it virtually impenetrable.
  2. Prevents thieves from using leverage tools or relocating the safe.
  3. Increases the effectiveness of built-in security features and dramatically boosts break-in resistance.

Professional Installation

  1. Certified technicians use industrial-grade anchoring systems for proper installation.
  2. The team evaluates floor structure, selects appropriate hardware, and ensures the installation meets manufacturer specifications to maintain warranties.
  3. Factors like moisture protection and floor integrity are considered during installation.
