The Centurion comes equipped with a UL-listed SecuRam TopLit electronic lock as the standard locking mechanism. This reliable digital lock lights up for easy code entry even in the dark, allowing quick access to your safe. For those who prefer old-school mechanical locks, an optional S&G mechanical dial can be installed (upgrade) – offering EMP-proof operation and no batteries required. Both locking options feature a hardened steel hardplate and an internal re-locker that will deadbolt the safe if thieves attempt to punch or drill the lock, adding an extra layer of security.

Centurion integrates modern security technology not often found in entry-level safes. It uses Solid State™ locking bars – flat, 4-inch wide steel bars that secure the door – which are proven to be 6x stronger against prying compared to traditional round bolts. The door frame is built with a Dual Fusion™ folded steel design (with reinforced steel gussets) that increases structural rigidity, making the door extremely pry-resistant under attack. These engineering enhancements give the Centurion a significant security edge among starter safes. Additionally, an external relocker and internal hardplate protect the lock from tampering, and the SecuRam electronic lock is UL-rated for high security reliability.

The Centurion’s body is constructed from 14-gauge steel with a unibody weld design, creating a sturdy, rigid enclosure for your firearms. The door uses seven 3/16-inch thick locking bars, each 4 inches wide, that extend deep into the safe’s frame – providing extensive contact to resist prying attempts. All hinge points and locking surfaces are built with precision to ensure a tight fit and smooth operation of the door. For its size, this safe feels solid and well-built; at 245–336 lbs, the Centurion has enough mass to make it difficult for an attacker to move when properly anchored. Inside the Centurion, you’ll find a gun-only interior with a fixed long gun rack and no shelving. The safe is still lined with gray fabric upholstery to protect your firearms from scratches. The Centurion 18 offers roughly 9.7 cubic feet of interior space, while the Centurion 12 offers about 5.3 cubic feet – enough room for a collection of rifles and shotguns.

To keep costs accessible, the Centurion series does not come with built-in interior lighting or electrical outlets from the factory. However, Norcal Safe and Vault offers an optional lighting and power upgrade for those who want to enhance their safe’s interior. We can install a motion-activated LED light kit and an electrical outlet/dehumidifier package in your Centurion (usually at the time of delivery). The LED light kit brightly illuminates your guns and gear whenever you open the door – a great feature for dim closets or nighttime access. The outlet kit provides power inside the safe, enabling use of a GoldenRod dehumidifier (to prevent moisture/rust) or other accessories like watch winders.

The exterior features a durable textured black finish (powder coat) that hides scuffs or scratches from everyday use, and the stylish drop-handle (L-shaped handle on 12 and 18 models) offers a clean, modern look.
