The Browning 1878 Series is a balanced-protection gun safe: security level 5 of 10, 11-gauge steel and 90 minutes of fire protection at 1,680°F, available in 5 sizes that hold up to 65 long guns. Level 5 out of 10 Security

The 1878 combines an 11-gauge steel body with continuous welds and a 1-1/4" Formed door with an inner plate. The Force Deflector™ locking system keeps prying and pounding forces on the bolts or handle from reaching the lock, up to nine chrome-plated 3" x 3/4" Max Bolts (five active) secure the top and sides of the door, and Pry-Stop® End Bolts protect the door corners. Hardened steel pin lock protection and UL Listed construction back up a finish that is genuinely one of a kind.

90 Minute Fire Protection

The 1878 is certified for 110 minutes of fire protection at 1,200°F and 90 minutes at 1,680°F. Browning's ThermaBlock® fire insulation interlocks to minimize gaps (1-7/8" in the ceiling, 1-7/8" in the body and 1-3/4" in the door), and external hinges avoid the heat path that internal hinges create. In a fire, the Palusol® door seal expands once it reaches 212°F, closing the gap around the door against heat and smoke. That makes it a strong choice for homes in wildfire-prone parts of Northern California.
